Amenities

Shadow Wood Preserve offers a range of amenities designed to enhance your lifestyle—from serene nature trails to vibrant social spaces. Explore what makes our community special.

Shadow Wood Preserve Commons is the community gathering area located at the end of Parkside Greens Dr. This area includes bocce, tennis, and pickleball courts; an air-conditioned Pavilion for community and private events; a dock for launching canoes and kayaks; a fishing pier; and a playground.

All amenities are for the SOLE USE of Shadow Wood Preserve residents and their guests.
PAVILION

The community uses the air-conditioned Pavilion for meetings, social events, and impromptu gatherings.  During the season, residents gather for Coffee Cafe', Happy Hour, Mah Jongg, Game Night, Book Club, presentations on a variety of topics, a Community Craft Fair, and more. Residents may reserve the Pavilion for private events at no additional cost.
KAYAKS and CANOES
Spot the manatees in Hidden Harbor or watch the shorebirds among the mangroves. Six community-owned single kayaks (three sit-on-tops and three sit-insides), two canoes, and one tandem kayak are available to residents and their guests to paddle down Mullock Creek into beautiful Estero Bay or up Ten Mile Canal.

Adult guests staying within Shadow Wood Preserve are welcome to use the boats without their resident host. Experienced kayakers who know Mullock Creek and the bay will be happy to orient new residents and/or their house guests.
PICKLEBALL
Two cushioned gel surface pickleball courts provide Shadow Wood Preserve residents with pickleball all year long! Learn the basics, get moving and enjoy playing with neighbors and friends.

Reserve courts through the community website, or play on a first-come basis when courts are not reserved. Balls are available at the courts.

OPEN PLAY PICKLEBALL
Open Play times are scheduled throughout the week. These are times when anyone may join and play without arranging for other players. It's a great way to meet up with neighbors whom you already know and those you surely want to get to know.

ADVANCED LEVELS
Some of our more athletic and competitive players meet at designated times for advanced level play. If you aren't there yet, join the cheering section - it's always great fun!
TENNIS
Tennis anyone?

The tennis court in the Shadow Wood Preserve Commons is available for play from 7 AM to sunset. Residents may make reservations and play up to 90 minutes—or play on a first-come basis. Reserve courts on the SWP community website.

Tennis or court shoes must be worn.
BOCCE
Shadow Wood Preserve offers two bocce courts. Whether you want to participate in a league or simply enjoy a friendly game, everyone can play bocce, regardless of skill or experience.

You may find residents playing anytime during the open hours of 7 AM to 9 PM. Make reservations for up to 90 minutes on the SWP Community website reservation system—or play on a first-come basis.

The Bocce balls remain on the courts, available for a quick game. The courts are lit for night play up to 9 PM.

Open Play Bocce
Open play times means you may walk-on without a reservation and play without arranging for other players. Open Play times are subject to change.

Open Play for women is every Wednesday from 10 to noon. Open Play for men is every Friday from 10 to noon.

Bocce League
SWP neighborhoods compete in league play from January through March.
FISHING PIER
Access to the fishing pier on Mullock Creek is near the sports complex, adjacent to the kayak and canoe launch.

Fishing is allowed; fish cleaning is not. Or just rest a while to take in the beauty of the natural water and perhaps spot a dolphin (it's not uncommon to see dolphins here).

Florida residents aged 65 or older only need their Florida driver’s license; others must purchase a fishing license.
PLAYGROUND
Hidden near the kayaks and canoes is a playground for your children and grandchildren. It is nestled into the natural Preserve. The equipment includes swings, a slide, and a jungle gym climbing.

Young children should be accompanied by an adult.
BIKE and WALKING PATH
An asphalt bike and walking path trails along the golf course, starting near the end of the Parkside neighborhood, continuing across the boulevard towards the south end of the Preserve.

Are you up for a 6.5-mile bike ride? That’s how far it is to bike or walk up and down Shadow Creek Boulevard and the streets of each neighborhood.
